The accolades keep rolling in for Aston Villa’s historic 2025/26 campaign. Following their dominant 3–0 triumph over SC Freiburg in the Europa League final, midfielder Morgan Rogers has been officially named the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League Player of the Season.

A Campaign to Remember

Rogers was the heartbeat of Unai Emery’s side throughout their European journey. His impact was felt on every level, providing the perfect blend of attacking creativity and relentless work rate:

Statistical Dominance: Across 15 appearances in the competition, Rogers recorded three goals and five assists.

Final Heroics: In the Istanbul final, he assisted the opening goal for Youri Tielemans before netting the third himself, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Work Rate: Beyond his goal contributions, the 23-year-old covered a remarkable 121.6km—more than any other teammate—and played 1,088 minutes, showcasing his incredible durability and tactical discipline.

More Recognition for the Villans

Rogers isn't the only one receiving praise. Following the tournament, the UEFA Technical Observer Group named their official 2025/26 Europa League Team of the Season, which features four Aston Villa stars:

Emiliano Martínez (Goalkeeper)

John McGinn (Midfielder)

Emiliano Buendía (Midfielder)

Morgan Rogers (Midfielder)

Emiliano Buendía also received special recognition, having been named the Player of the Match for the final in Istanbul for his sublime goal and assist performance.

"It was a quality performance. He was very good between the lines, played good passes throughout and led the team's attacking intensity." — UEFA Technical Observer panel on Buendía.

It has been a truly historic year for the club, ending a 30-year trophy drought and cementing their place back at the summit of European football. Congratulations, Morgan!
