Arsenal are one win away from their first Premier League title in 22 years, though they must wait until the final day of the season to be officially crowned.
The Gunners' chances of wrapping up the league on Tuesday were dampened after Manchester City fought back to earn a 1–1 draw against Bournemouth. While Arsenal remain in the driving seat, the title will now be decided this Sunday, May 24.
The Current Situation
Arsenal (82 points): Lead the table by two points with one match remaining. They travel to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Manchester City (80 points): Need a win against Aston Villa on the final day, while simultaneously hoping for an Arsenal defeat at Selhurst Park, to have any chance of retaining the trophy.
What needs to happen
Arsenal will be champions if they beat Crystal Palace. A draw would also be enough if Manchester City fail to win against Aston Villa.
Manchester City will be champions only if they win their final game and Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace.
The two sides remain deadlocked on goal difference (+43), meaning if they finish level on points, the title will be decided by the highest number of goals scored.
Currently, both teams are level on points dropped, but Arsenal’s superior cushion gives them the clear advantage heading into the final 90 minutes of the season.
