It is a historic night for the Lionesses! Sarina Wiegman has once again been named The Best FIFA Women’s Coach 2025, extending her own record by winning the prestigious award for the fifth time.
The announcement was made today, December 16, at the FIFA gala in Doha, following a year where Wiegman cemented her status as the greatest international manager in the history of the women’s game.
A Year of History: Euro 2025
The crown jewel of Wiegman’s 2025 was masterminding England’s successful defense of their European title. In July 2025, she led the Lionesses to Euro 2025 glory in Switzerland, defeating world champions Spain in a dramatic penalty shootout in the final.
With this victory, Wiegman achieved several "firsts":
The "Three-Peat": She is the first coach ever to win three consecutive Women’s Euros (Netherlands 2017, England 2022, and England 2025).
Finals Queen: She has now reached the final of the last five major international tournaments she has entered.
Trophy Double: This FIFA award follows her winning the Johan Cruyff Trophy (Women's Coach of the Year) at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in September.
The Final Standings
Wiegman won the vote comfortably ahead of a highly competitive shortlist of tactical masterminds:
Rank,Coach,Team,Key Achievement
1st,Sarina Wiegman,England,Euro 2025 Winners
2nd,Sonia Bompastor,Chelsea,WSL & FA Cup Double
3rd,Renee Slegers,Arsenal,Champions League Finalists
Other finalists included Jonatan Giráldez (Washington Spirit/Lyon) and Seb Hines (Orlando Pride).
The "Wiegman Effect"
Wiegman’s influence was felt throughout the ceremony. Her number one goalkeeper, Hannah Hampton, was named The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper,
and four of her Lionesses—Hampton, Lucy Bronze, Leah Williamson, and Alessia Russo—were named to the FIFA FIFPro Women’s World XI.
"This award is for the players and staff. We showed so much conviction and togetherness to defend our title," Wiegman said. "Moving into 2026, let's keep pushing the women's game forward together."
