The Injury Curse Strikes Again: Courtois Sidelined with Adductor Injury

In a discouraging turn of events, Real Madrid and Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has suffered yet another injury, this time to the adductor longus muscle in his right leg. After just recently returning to the national team following a long-standing dispute with the previous coach, the 33-year-old will once again face a spell on the sidelines.

The latest setback

Medical tests performed by Real Madrid on Monday, November 10, 2025, revealed the injury.

Courtois had played a full 90 minutes in Real Madrid's recent match against Rayo Vallecano, though he was reportedly experiencing some discomfort. His recovery will now be assessed during the international break, forcing him to miss Belgium's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein.

A history of injury woes

This latest injury is a familiar disappointment for Courtois, who has struggled with a series of physical setbacks over the last few years.

He missed most of the previous season due to a torn ACL and a subsequent meniscus injury. While his eventual return was a major boost, this adductor issue forces him to halt his momentum and restart his recovery process.

What this means for Real Madrid and Belgium

This news is a frustrating blow for both club and country. For Real Madrid, it means a temporary loss of their experienced number one goalkeeper.

For Belgium, who are already dealing with a long-term injury to Kevin De Bruyne, the news is a huge setback ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers.

The hope now is that Courtois's recovery will be swift and he can return to action after the international break.
