After just five months, the Ivan Jurić era at Atalanta is over. Appointed to succeed the club legend Gian Piero Gasperini in June 2025, Jurić has been sacked following a disastrous run of results. The decision came on November 10, after a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Sassuolo, which left the once high-flying team in a concerning 13th place in Serie A.
A tenure marked by disappointment
Jurić's time in charge saw the team go on a miserable seven-match winless streak in Serie A, a run not seen at the club since 2018.
While the team showed glimmers of hope in the Champions League, their domestic form was abysmal, managing only two wins from 11 league games.
The final straw was the poor performance against Sassuolo, marking the first time Atalanta had lost a Serie A home match by three goals since 2021.
A difficult year for the coach
For Jurić, 2025 continues a worrying trend. It's the same year he parted ways with Southampton and his first attempt at managing Roma also ended in dismissal in 2024. The frequent job changes, coupled with a series of poor results,
are raising questions about his recent management record.
What's next for Atalanta?
While Jurić and his staff have been thanked and released from their duties, the club is already looking for a replacement.
Reports from several outlets suggest that former Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino is a leading candidate for the job.
The team will have some time to reset during the international break before facing defending champions Napoli on November 22.
