Gareth Southgate will reportedly turn down any approach from Manchester United should the club decide to part ways with under-pressure manager Ruben Amorim.
The England coach, who left his national team post after Euro 2024,
has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as the club’s hierarchy weigh up potential replacements amid a turbulent start to the season.
Southgate Not Interested in United Role
According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Southgate has no intention of stepping into the United hot seat at this stage. While he features on a three-man shortlist that also includes Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola, the 55-year-old is said to be in no rush to return to management.
Amorim Under Growing Pressure
Despite continued backing from the United board, Amorim is walking a tightrope after a disastrous run of results that has
seen the Red Devils plummet to 14th in the Premier League.
The latest setback came in a humiliating 3-1 defeat at Brentford,
where United shipped two goals in the opening 20 minutes. Although Benjamin Šeško pulled one back,
the Bees sealed victory with Mathias Jensen’s injury-time strike.
A Make-or-Break Weekend
All eyes will now be on this weekend’s home clash with Sunderland.
The newly-promoted side arrive at Old Trafford in high spirits,
while Amorim knows anything less than victory could spell the end of his tenure.
United cannot afford further slip-ups with the season already spiraling, and the international break looming as a natural point for change.
