Borussia Dortmund reportedly open to lowering Serhou Guirassy's transfer fee for Barcelona

According to reports from German sports publication Bild, Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy has negotiated a lower release clause that could facilitate a transfer to Barcelona or Real Madrid. The new price is said to be around €65 million, significantly less than the €100 million previously reported.

Background on the transfer rumor

A replacement for Lewandowski? Guirassy, who turns 30 in March 2026, is seen by Barça as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires in 2026.

Hansi Flick's influence: Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is reportedly a strong admirer of Guirassy, having faced him during the striker's prolific season at Dortmund.

Guirassy scored five goals against Barcelona in the 2024/2025 Champions League campaign, including a hat-trick in the quarter-final second leg.

Financial constraints: Barcelona's ongoing financial difficulties make a €100 million transfer highly unlikely.

A reduced fee would make a deal more feasible for the Catalan club.

Barcelona fans are divided: Some Barcelona fans have expressed reservations about the potential signing, citing the striker's age and a preference for younger options like Julian Alvarez or Alexander Isak.

Guirassy's career highlights

Prolific form: Guirassy has been in excellent goalscoring form over the past couple of years.

2023-2024 (VfB Stuttgart): Scored 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances, finishing second in the scoring charts.

2024-2025 (Borussia Dortmund): Continued his form with 21 goals in 30 Bundesliga matches.

Champions League: Finished as a joint-top scorer in the 2024-2025 Champions League with 13 goals.

What this means for Barcelona and Dortmund

Barça's options: While Guirassy is a top target for Flick, the club's board is reportedly also considering other strikers, with Julian Alvarez mentioned as a priority for summer 2026.

Dortmund's stance: Dortmund is apparently willing to be flexible with the transfer fee to accommodate the player's wish to join one of La Liga's giants.

Guirassy signed with Dortmund in summer 2024 and is under contract until 2028.
