Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign highly rated Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco,
with the deal set to be completed in the summer of 2026, according to multiple reports.
The 17-year-old defensive midfielder, currently playing for Fortaleza CEIF after leaving development side Rojo earlier this year,
will officially join the Red Devils once he turns 18 in July 2026. Orozco also captains Colombia’s U19 national team,
and is already seen as one of the country’s most promising young talents.
United’s interest in Orozco aligns with their recent strategy of investing in young prospects to build for the future.
Recent recruits like Chido Obi, Diego Léon, Ayden Heaven, Sékou Koné, and Enzo Kana-Biyik highlight this long-term vision at Old Trafford.
News of Orozco’s move has created significant excitement in Colombia, where his former coaches at Rojo praised both his character and footballing maturity.
“With his character and playing style, he became a leader in the U15 and U17 teams,” said Campo Elías Santacruz.
“Even at a young age, he showed responsibility, worked hard in training, and carried himself like an experienced player. He’s also a great human being.”
Former Rojo coach Álvaro Escobar, who was also involved in negotiations with United, echoed that sentiment.
“He has a positive leadership style that earned him the captaincy of the Colombian national team,”
Escobar explained. “He communicates well, accepts corrections without frustration, and is always eager to learn.
It’s been a joy to coach him. I was thrilled when I heard he was moving to Manchester United.”
