Harry Kane wins his first ever major trophy in his career this with Bayern Munich

Harry Kane has taken aim at his trophy critics,

with the Bundesliga title-winning Bayern Munich star wondering

“what people talk about now”.

The England captain found himself at the centre of a tiresome debate

after seeing major silverware elude him with club and country.

He picked up countless individual accolades, breaking goalscoring

records in the process, but never landed major silverware.

That curse has been broken in 2025, with Kane now a champion in German

football, with wild celebrations being enjoyed by the prolific 31-year-old

striker. He is understandably delighted to have got his hands on a

first winners’ medal.

Kane has told The Times: “I’m very aware of the fact that I hadn’t won

[a trophy]. I put myself under more pressure than anyone else could put

me under. As the years go by you start to think: ‘Is it going to happen?’

“I just credit my resilience because of the things I’ve had to

deal with in my career; you just keep going and keep pushing yourself

and good things will come and this is definitely one of those.”

Kane is a big golf fan and took inspiration from seeing Rory McIlroy

win The Masters earlier this year, with the Northern Irishman saying

on the back of that success, which saw him complete the career Grand Slam

of major titles: “What are we all going to talk about next year?”

Kane added while echoing those sentiments: “Yeah, we’ll see what people

talk about now. I’m sure they’ll find something and I’ll take it in my

stride. I’m not different to what I was before I won.

“It was something that was missing from my resume.

I’d achieved a lot of big things in my career from an

individual point of view and this is one of those things

I obviously wanted to achieve, a team title, a league title.

Kane will be chasing down more tangible success at the FIFA Club World
Cup this summer. He also forms part of England’s 2026 World Cup
qualification campaign, having previously endured two European Championship
final defeats with the Three Lions.

“And there’s still team trophies I want to achieve so it doesn’t stop now, it’s not like: ‘This is the end and I hang my boots up happy’.
This is just the beginning of hopefully more to come.”
