The Road to 2026: Otto Addo Names 26-Man Black Stars Squad for Austria & Germany Tests 🏟️🇬🇭🧱

The countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup has officially begun in Accra. On Monday, March 16, 2026, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo unveiled a 26-man roster for two high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany later this month.

With Ghana drawn into a challenging World Cup Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, these European tests are designed to finalize the tactical blueprint before the tournament kicks off in June.

The Headline: Four New Faces Join the Fold

Addo has continued his strategy of expanding the talent pool, handing maiden senior call-ups to four players across the European leagues.

Marvin Senaya (AJ Auxerre, France): The 21-year-old Ligue 1 defender chose Ghana over France and Togo. He arrives in camp as one of the top tacklers in France this season.

Derrick Luckassen (Pafos FC, Cyprus): A seasoned 30-year-old center-back and AZ Alkmaar academy product. He recently helped Pafos secure a historic league title and has Champions League experience.

Daniel Agyei (Kocaelispor, Turkey): A versatile 28-year-old forward born in England. Formerly of Burnley and Oxford United, he provides much-needed depth in the attacking third.

Patrick Pfeiffer (Darmstadt 98, Germany): After a long-awaited nationality switch, the 6ft 5in defender finally joins the squad to bolster the backline.

The Key Returns & Notable Snubs

The "Big Three" are back. After missing recent outings due to fitness concerns, Thomas Partey, Iñaki Williams, and Alexander Djiku have all been recalled.

Their experience will be vital as Ghana faces the 11th-ranked Germans in Stuttgart.

The Returns,"Thomas Partey, Iñaki Williams, Alexander Djiku, Ibrahim Sulemana"

The Snub,Andre Ayew (Left out despite his recent form at NAC Breda)

Injured,"Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Ernest Nuamah"

Tactical Note: The absence of Mohammed Kudus (injury) is a significant blow, but it opens the door for Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Kamaldeen Sulemana to reclaim their spots on the wings.
