The "Ramos" Raid: Aston Villa Prepare Blockbuster Offer for PSG Star

In a major twist to the January transfer window, Aston Villa are reportedly preparing a formal offer for Paris Saint-Germain’s Gonçalo Ramos.

As of Friday, January 23, 2026, Unai Emery’s side has identified the Portuguese international as a "dream target" to bolster their attack for a serious Champions League charge.

With Donyell Malen recently sold to Roma and Boubacar Kamara sidelined with a season-ending injury, Villa are in the midst of a high-stakes squad rebuild.

The Details: A Premier League Tug-of-War

According to transfer expert Duncan Castles, Villa are currently "working to extract" the 24-year-old from the Parc des Princes. However, they aren't alone in their pursuit.

The Rivalry: Crystal Palace are also credited with a strong interest as they search for a replacement for the exit-bound Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The PSG Stance: Despite Ramos being a "guarantee" when called upon by Luis Enrique, he has struggled to cement a starting spot ahead of Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué. While PSG are officially saying they "do not want to sell," it is believed a significant permanent offer could tempt them.

The Competition: Liverpool have also been monitoring Ramos as a potential six-month loan solution while Alexander Isak recovers from a long-term injury.

The "Plan B" Scenarios

While Ramos is the priority, Villa are moving simultaneously on several fronts:

Tammy Abraham: Villa are in advanced talks to cut his loan at Besiktas short for a spectacular return.

Jean-Philippe Mateta: If the Ramos deal proves too expensive, Villa are ready to pounce on the disgruntled Palace striker.

Omar Marmoush: The Frankfurt forward is being considered as a high-value loan alternative.

The Verdict: This is a classic "statement" move. Signing Ramos would not only weaken a European rival but also signal that Aston Villa are no longer just "competing" for the Top 4—they are building a squad to win titles.
