Galatasaray Eyeing Omar Marmoush Loan Amid Manchester City Uncertainty

The January transfer window has produced a surprise twist for Manchester City’s Egyptian star, Omar Marmoush. On Thursday, January 15, 2026, reports from Turkish media outlets Sabah and HT Sport confirmed that intermediary George Gardi has officially offered Marmoush to Galatasaray on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Marmoush, who joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported €75 million (£59m) in January 2025, has found his path to the starting XI increasingly blocked following the arrival of Antoine Semenyo earlier this month.

The "Gardi" Proposal: Why Now?

The move stems from Marmoush’s desire for more regular game time. Despite a strong start to his City career last year—netting 7 goals in his first 16 games—he has recently fallen down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.

The Galatasaray Target: The Turkish giants are reportedly "very keen" to secure a high-profile striker on loan. George Gardi, who was instrumental in bringing Victor Osimhen to Istanbul, is the man trying to facilitate the deal.

The Competition: Galatasaray faces stiff competition. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are monitoring the situation, with Thomas Frank (Spurs) and Unai Emery (Villa) reportedly viewing Marmoush as a "live wire" addition for their European pushes.

The Player’s Stance: Sources close to the 26-year-old suggest his first priority is to remain in the Premier League. However, he is open to a loan move to ensure he doesn't spend the rest of the 2025/26 season on the bench.

The "Semenyo Effect": The arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for £65m has signaled a shift in Guardiola's attacking plans.

With Haaland, Foden, Cherki, and now Semenyo ahead of him, Marmoush is viewed by many as the "odd man out" in the City frontline.

The Verdict: While City are reportedly reluctant to lose a player of Marmoush's versatility mid-season, the sheer volume of interest from Galatasaray, Spurs, and Villa suggests a loan is becoming more likely. A move to Turkey would reunite him with former Premier League stars and offer guaranteed Champions League-level intensity in the Süper Lig title race.
