🐝 History in the Making: Igor Thiago Becomes First-Ever Brentford Player to Win PL POTM

Brentford has had plenty of Premier League milestones since their promotion in 2021, but today they’ve ticked off a major one. Igor Thiago has been crowned the Premier League Player of the Month for November 2025, becoming the first-ever Bee to take home the prestigious individual trophy.

While Ivan Toney and Saman Ghoddos have previously won Goal of the Month awards, and Mark Flekken has a Save of the Month to his name, Thiago is the first to be recognized as the outright best player in the division for a calendar month.

A November to Remember

Thiago’s win wasn't just about novelty; it was about sheer, clinical dominance. The striker was the division's leading scorer in November, netting five goals in just four appearances.

The Newcastle Brace: Thiago kickstarted his month with a match-winning performance against the Magpies, converting a 78th-minute penalty before sealing a 3-1 win with a composed stoppage-time finish.

The Amex Accuracy: Despite a narrow 2-1 loss to Brighton, Thiago was a constant threat, opening the scoring with another clinical spot-kick.

The Burnley Clincher: In the final game of the month, he delivered yet another late brace. Showing immense mental strength to step up after a previous miss, he scored an 88th-minute penalty and added a second just a minute later to secure a 3-1 victory.

Chasing Haaland and Breaking Records

The Brazilian’s form has propelled him into the conversation for the Golden Boot. With 11 Premier League goals so far this season, he currently sits second in the scoring charts, trailing only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (15).Perhaps most impressively for Brentford fans, Thiago has already broken a club record previously held by Ivan Toney. By reaching 10 goals in just 13 matches, he became the fastest player in Brentford history to reach double digits in the Premier League.

In His Own Words

Upon receiving the award at the club's training ground, an emotional Thiago reflected on his journey since arriving from Club Brugge:

"It means so much to me. I'm really happy to receive this because it means my hard work on the pitch has paid off. I'm surprised! But hopefully I can receive more of these this season. I'm so happy and proud of myself."

For manager Keith Andrews and the Brentford hierarchy, Thiago’s success is a validation of their recruitment strategy. Standing at 1.91m and possessing both raw power and technical finesse, he has filled the void left by departing stars and turned the Bees into one of the most clinical attacking units in the league.

Can Igor Thiago sustain this form and seriously challenge Erling Haaland for the Golden Boot this season?
