🚨 Official: Aston Villa Sign Ivorian Talent Mohamed Koné from ASEC Mimosas

Aston Villa have officially announced the signing of Mohamed Koné, a highly-rated Ivorian midfielder from ASEC Mimosas, one of Africa’s most prestigious talent factories.

In a club statement, Villa said:“Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of Mohamed Koné from ASEC Mimosas.

A highly-rated midfielder who has attracted plenty of admirers, Koné joins from one of the leading clubs and academies in Ivory Coast.”

🌍 From Abidjan to Birmingham

Koné comes through the famous MimoSifcom Academy, the same institution that produced African legends Yaya Touré and Kolo Touré, as well as modern stars like Odilon Kossounou, Karim Konaté, and Touré Bazoumana.

Despite being only 19 years old, the midfielder had already broken into ASEC’s first team at just 17,

showing maturity and technical quality well beyond his years. He’s also represented Ivory Coast at U-20 and U-23 levels,

making him one of the brightest prospects in West African football.

🦁 Settling Into Villa Life

Interestingly, Koné had already spent several weeks at Bodymoor Heath, Aston Villa’s training ground,

before officially putting pen to paper. Since the summer, he has been playing regularly with the U-21 squad,

where he recently scored his first competitive goal in a Vertu Trophy clash against Peterborough United.Villa highlighted his early impact, saying:

“Koné has been playing with the Aston Villa Under-21s since the start of this season, recently scoring his first competitive goal against Peterborough United in the Vertu Trophy.”

🤝 Building Bridges With Africa

This signing is more than just a transfer. It reflects the close partnership between Aston Villa and ASEC Mimosas, with Villa confirming that the collaboration will extend beyond player transfers.

“Mohamed’s move to Villa is a symbol of the close relationship between Aston Villa and ASEC and signals the start of a productive relationship.

As part of this ongoing relationship, the club have also invited ASEC to play matches in the UK, as well as to Cairo for tournaments at our partner club, ZED FC.”

⚽ The Future Looks Bright

While Koné is currently bedding into Villa’s youth setup, many expect him to be fast-tracked into the first team if he continues to impress.

With his blend of energy, technique, and vision, he could follow in the footsteps of other Ivorian midfield greats who have lit up the Premier League.

For now, Villa fans can be excited about watching another African gem begin his journey in claret and blue.
