The race for the Yashin Trophy 2025 is officially on! As part of the prestigious Ballon d’Or awards, 

the Yashin Trophy honors the best goalkeeper in the world over the past season. 

Named after the legendary Soviet shot-stopper Lev Yashin, it recognizes elite performance between the sticks across club and international football.


This year’s nominees feature some of the most consistent and influential goalkeepers from Europe’s top leagues, and the competition is tighter than ever.


🧤 What Is the Yashin Trophy?

First introduced in 2019, the Yashin Trophy is awarded to the world’s best goalkeeper, as selected by 

France Football’s panel of international journalists. 

Unlike the Ballon d'Or, it is exclusively for goalkeepers, offering them the recognition they rarely receive in major individual awards.

1. Alisson Becker – Liverpool & Brazil



Alisson Becker notched 12 clean sheets across all competitions, delivered a standout Man of the Match performance with 9 saves 

in the Champions League round of 16 against PSG and was honored as a PFA Community Champion for his impactful off-field contributions.



2. Yassine Bounou – Al-Hilal & Morocco 



Yassine Bounou kept 20 clean sheets in 56 matches for Al-Hilal, 

and was named the best goalkeeper at the 2025 Club World Cup—where he 

tallied an astounding 11 saves against Manchester City to set a tournament record.


3. Lucas Chevalier – Lille & France 



Last season, Lucas Chevalier achieved the prestigious UNFP Goalkeeper of the Year award in Ligue 1, 

a testament to his exceptional performances for Lille. He played a crucial role in Lille's strong defensive record, 

helping them secure a fifth-place finish and qualification for the Europa League. 

Chevalier also recorded 12 clean sheets and made 128 saves throughout the season.

4. Thibaut Courtois – Real Madrid & Belgium 



Despite a challenging campaign marked by defensive instability, 

Courtois achieved notable milestones—including his 100th clean sheet for Real Madrid—logged 17 shutouts across all competitions, 

and continues to anchor the team while contract renewal talks hint at his long-term future.


5. Gianluigi Donnarumma – PSG & Italy 



Gianluigi Donnarumma starred in PSG’s historic treble—clinching Ligue 1, 

the Coupe de France, the Champions League—and earned inclusion in both the UEFA Champions League  

topping CIES’s global goalkeeper rankings and staging key saves that turned around his Champions League campaign.


6. Emiliano Martínez – Aston Villa & Brazil



Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez posted 15 clean sheets across all competitions for

Aston Villa—including 8 in the Premier League—secured the Premier League Save of the Season


7. Jan Oblak – Atlético Madrid & Slovenian



In the 2024-2025 season, Jan Oblak achieved his sixth Zamora Trophy, making him the sole record holder for most Zamora Trophies in La Liga. 

He won the award for the best goals-conceded-per-game ratio in the league, having conceded only 30 goals in 36 matches and keeping 15 clean sheets, 

according to Página oficial del Atlético de Madrid. He also won the LALIGA EA SPORTS Best Save Award for October, according to LALIGA. 


8. David Raya – Arsenal & Spain 



David Raya retained the Premier League Golden Glove with 13 clean sheets, 

broke Arsenal’s record for the most clean sheets in his first 50 league games, 

delivered multiple standout saves (including against Man City and at Old Trafford), 

and finished third in Arsenal’s Player of the Season voting.


9. Matz Sels – Nottingham Forest & Belgian



Last season, Nottingham Forest's Matz Sels achieved a shared Premier League Golden Glove award with Arsenal's David Raya, 

each keeping 13 clean sheets. He also played a key role in Nottingham Forest's return to European football for the first time in 30 years, 

with the club finishing seventh in the Premier League and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals. 

recognizing him as one of the best goalkeepers in world football. 


10. Yann Sommer – Inter Milan & Switzerland 



Yann Sommer notched 12 clean sheets in Serie A, led all of Europe’s top five leagues in Premier League–level save success rate, 

and was named to The Athletic’s European Men’s Team of the Season. 

He also reached the final of the UEFA Champions League, where Inter Milan was defeated by Paris Saint-Germain.
